Horse Whisperer… what can’t he do?!

MCDHOWH EC001

I didn’t have a picture of him with his old horses…but this bad ass pic of Robert Redford will have to do.

Always look forward to him walking in around 4:00pm. After multiple shoulder surgeries back in the day from his football days he was left with a frozen shoulder, but he never lets that slow him down. He is still able to toss around very impressive weights, including a 305lb Bench Press.

Here are a few words from him:

These testimonials are tough to get started…….I guess returning to the gym after 25 or so years off was also tough.

I started looking into Crossfit when I had done some contracting work for Winnipeg Crossfit when it first opened. I had a brief chat with the owner and was mildly interested but concerned about the intensity. My old nagging injuries were not looking forward to abuse.

I shelved the thoughts for a while but again found myself on the roof of another Crossfit gym looking at some ventilation issues with the Landlord. Turns out the landlord knew the owner of the gym (his son) and brought me inside to look around and meet Kyle. I soon confessed my interest and before you know it I was in the middle of my baseline test a few weeks later wondering just what sort of torture I had committed to!  After a few days of limping around I returned for the regular classes. I barely remember them now but do remember the great group I began with and how we encouraged each other and how we all evolved into better athletes.

The first months were encouraging with strength increasing by the week and the aerobic conditioning doing its job. Then came the real game changer …..The whole 30… I talked myself into taking the challenge and man did it work. The lessons in nutrition from Brenden were such eye openers for me and the results came fast…20 lbs lost and three holes tighter on my belt. I had never experienced this kind of change. I continue to follow the basic lessons learned in a more relaxed fashion and continue to learn as much as I can about nutrition.

Since then I continue to surprise myself with the gains made in strength and conditioning. It’s tough to miss a day and look forward to challenge the workouts and seeing my friends at the gym day in and day out.

I can’t say enough about the coaches. They are always there to encourage, challenge or make you laugh! It is truly a great place to go and change your life!
